If you've never downloaded apps without the market, then follow these steps:

  1. From the home screen of your phone press the Menu key, then touch "Settings".

  2. From the settings list, touch "Applications".

  3. On the applications screen make sure the checkbox next to "Unknown sources" is checked.

  4. When you check this checkbox you will get a warning message. Please read it and understand what it means. I suggest you turn this setting back off (uncheck the box) after you are done downloading apps from

  6. When the download starts you will see a message that says "Starting download..." While the download is happening, a down arrow will be animated in the status bar at the top of your screen:

    When this arrow stops changing the download is complete. Pull down the status bar to reveal the downloaded file.

  7. Touch the downloaded file to install it. You will be asked to confirm the installation. Touch the "Install" button.

  8. When the install is complete you will see a confirmation screen. You may open the app now by touching the "Open" button, or you may touch the "Done" button to return to this page and download more apps!
